                                    The Portrait Process

This process begins with a discussion about the type and size of painting required, the mood desired, and the particulars of the painting. All the elements that make up the final painting will be discussed, including location, background, clothing and props.

A fee is settled upon, and travel arrangements and dates are set. The buyer pays all travel and lodging expenses for the artist.

Once the initial meeting is concluded, (usually in the clients home) a contract is signed and 50% of the cost of the portrait is paid in advance. (This is the industry-wide standard and is non-refundable.)

Photos are taken and brought back to the artists studio where a small preliminary color sketch is drawn up for approval. All the elements of the portrait will be settled upon prior to actually beginning the painting.

It is anticipated that the portrait will take between two and three months to complete. Once complete, the artist will bring the painting to the client to approve or make changes as necessary.

Final payment will be made when the client accepts and takes possession of the portrait.
